ABOUT MEXICATL
Mexicatl has been an established breeding prefix in Australia for over 40 years. Mexicatl is one of only a handful of breeders in Australia to currently be the home of all-breeds and national specialty "Best In Show" winning Chihuahuas.
Founded by Mrs Stefanie Smith, Mexicatl has bred champion show dogs including the Chihuahua, Chinese Crested, Papillon, Bichon Frise, Border Collie and German Shepherd to name a few.
Around 2010, Stefanie joined forces with Dr Sue Montgomery who has been breeding and showing Dobermans for over 30 years under the prefixes Ashca and Sonza. Sue has also successfully exhibited champion German Shorthaired Pointers, Golden Retrievers and Rottweilers.
Sue's daughter, Mrs Ashlyn Trebbin, has officially become part of the Mexicatl team in 2018. Ashlyn enjoys handling at conformation shows and training Mexicatl's youngsters.
Together Steffi and Sue have a reputation for breeding and showing quality Smooth and Long Coat Chihuahuas. With an emphasis on health, type, and temperament, Mexicatl has a strong English and Spanish influence through imported bloodlines.
Mexicatl breeds puppies for the show ring, not to make a profit, but occasionally do have puppies and retired show dogs available to buy.

Spotlight on: HOLLY
Holly had a bit of a bumpy start to life, losing her mum at birth. Thanks to Sue and Steffi's tireless effort, Holly has become an amazing member of our show team! She has finished the year with JUNIOR IN SHOW at the Chihuahua National Specialty Show.
Spotlight on: NOODLE
We couldn't be more proud of the year Noodle has had. She has been a consistent winner at breed level with only limited showing, topping off her year with a BEST IN SHOW at the chihuahua National Specialty show in Melbourne!
